How much paint do I need? Calculate the right amount for your project.
Calculate automatically in wizardToo little paint means unfinished work and extra orders. Too much paint is wasteful. On this page we explain how much paint, primer and clearcoat you need for different project sizes.
Paint coverage depends on colour, surface and application technique. These are averages:
| Product | Coverage | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Primer (filler) | 6-8 m²/litre | 2-3 coats |
| Metallic basecoat (WBC) | 8-10 m²/litre | 3 coats |
| 2K Acrylic paint | 7-9 m²/litre | 2-3 coats |
| 2K Clearcoat | 6-8 m²/litre | 2 coats |
| Spray (400ml) | 1-1.5 m²/can | 3 coats |
Choose the right size for your project:
The easiest way: choose a ready-made kit based on your project size. Kits include all necessary products.
Stone chips, small scratches
Primer + colour + clear in brush bottles
Small repairs, under 0.3m²
Primer + colour + clear in spray cans
Small repairs, 0.1-0.3m²
250ml basecoat + 500ml clearcoat kit
Medium, 0.3-0.6m²
500ml basecoat + 1L clearcoat kit
Large, 0.6-1.2m²
1L basecoat + 1.5L clearcoat kit
Always order 10-20% more than you calculate you need. Reordering is expensive and the colour shade may vary.
Yellow, white and red shades cover poorly and require extra coats.
If you blend the colour to the panel edge, reserve 30% more clearcoat for the blending area.
Reserve a little extra for practice. The first time does not always go perfectly.
The project planning wizard automatically calculates the materials you need and creates a shopping list.
